YOUR HELP IS NEEDED: There is a need for one adult to lead Children’s Church each Sunday during the 11 a.m. Worship Service. Materials are provided. The youth do the first Sunday of each month. That leaves 40 Sundays… if 40 people each take one Sunday, everyone would only have to do it one time each year!! Children’s Church gives our preschool through 3rd grade children an opportunity to worship at their level of understanding AND it allows their parents an opportunity to worship as well. Please contact Rhonda Hepler to volunteer (424-8704). To place your order, contact any youth, Ms. Nancy, Cindy & Brian Sims, or Jamie Sanders. HAITI RELIEF: The UMW and the UMYF have put together 188 health care kits. These, along with Cedar Lake’s total of 120 kits, makes a combined total of 308 Health Care Kits that Brother David will be taking to the UMCOR Sager Brown Depot in Baldwin, LA. Thank you for your donations and help with this great need. ATTENTION ALL PARENTS AND YOUTH: The 8th Annual Poplar Head UMYF Spring Retreat is scheduled for Mar 19-21. Cost is $50. SOUPER BOWL OF CARING: More than 20 years ago, the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a single youth group. Since that day, more than $60 million has been raised for local charities across the country. Be a part of this movement that is sharing God’s love with those in need. TODAY the youth will be at the doors with soup pots as you exit worship. Please give generously. Every dollar donated goes to Haiti Relief and every food item donated goes to the food pantry.
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY GET-TOGETHER: All youth are invited to a Super Bowl Get-Together at Sara Lerch’s home on Sunday, Feb. 7 after UMYF. Bring something good to eat or a 2-liter of soda and join us for fellowship and to watch the Saints win Super Bowl XLIV!!! WHO DAT?!? If you have any questions, contact Ms. Nancy at 424-0043.
HAPPENING #60 will be held Feb. 19-21 at Galloway UMC in Jackson, MS. This is a once in a lifetime experience for youth grades 10-12 (and sometimes adults). We are very excited that Corey Sims, Brittni Damrill, Lindsay Dunaway, and Ms. Nancy are serving on staff. The Happening experience is a powerful instrument of renewal in the church. Its aim is to concentrate closely on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ. The Happening hopes to give those that attend the desire to understand and serve the church. It also provides a means to continue the Christian formation which is just begun in the three day program. Please keep the retreat and all those participating in your prayers.
JUNIOR HIGH SUMMER MISSION TRIP: The Junior High youth are attending Youth In Missions (YIM) at Lake Junaluska on July 4-8, 2010. Registration must be done now so we can be assured a reservation. Cost for the week is $350 and includes lodging, all meals at Lake J, transportation, & rafting. Commitment forms have been distributed to all Junior High Youth including details for using stock funds and are due to Ms. Nancy on Feb 28th. If you have any questions contact Ms. Nancy at 424-0043.
