WORK TEAMS:  This past week we had 4 teams, making a total of 36 volunteers, helping 7 homeowners.  Way to go!

STAFF/PASTOR PARISH RELATIONS COMMITTEE MEETING:  The S/PPRC will be meeting on Monday, March 1st at 6:30 p.m.  Members are:  Sam Napier, Bro. David Cumbest, Rick Murden, Wendy Williams, Larry Loeding, Charles Martin, Lynda Johnson, Virgil Yeager, Terry Desporte, Terry Gibbs, Dot Pritchett, Tyler Sanders, Corey Sims, & Deanna Cossey.

FOOD PANTRY:  Next Sunday is the first Sunday of the month, so don’t forget to bring your donations.  The need is great and the food pantry is funded through donations only.  Items that are needed MOST are:  Rice, dried beans, oatmeal, grits, canned meats, macaroni & cheese, and peanut butter.  During the month of February we have handed out 80 bags of food through the pantry.  Your donations are greatly appreciated!

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED (Phone Number Change):  There is a need for one adult to lead Children’s Church each Sunday during the 11 a.m. Worship Service.  Materials are provided.  Children’s Church gives our preschool through 3rd grade children an opportunity to worship at their level of understanding AND it allows their parents an opportunity to worship as well.  Please contact Rhonda Hepler to volunteer (424-4657).

RELAY FOR LIFE:  The youth are participating in the Ocean Springs “Relay For Life” on April 30th.  They are selling Southern Belle T-shirts.  The shirts are dark purple with the saying “Remembering by candlelight loved ones we’ve lost and those that still fight.  Southern Belles…celebrate the night as we Relay for Life”.  To place your order, contact any youth, Ms. Nancy, Cindy & Brian Sims, or Jamie Sanders.

COMPUTER LAB:  Reminder to those who ‘pledged’ we are still waiting on the remaining $140 toward the purchase of computers for the new HUMC computer lab…please turn in your pledge as soon as possible.  If you will be writing a check, make it payable to Heritage UMC and put ‘computer lab’ on the ‘for’ line.

SAMPLING SUPPER 2010:  Although we are sad to say that Brother David did not win for the fourth year in a row, he did hand the Silver Spatula off to Cindy Gibbs’ father, Brother Stirman Williamson. That’s kind of like still in our family (by marriage!!).  Regardless of who get the Silver Spatula, the real winners are the Wesley Foundations at MGCCC & USM-GC.  Over $5,500.00 was raised to support the two Wesley Foundations.  Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket, ‘voted’ for Brother David’s food dishes, prepared food dishes, or contributed to the Silent Auction.  Over half the tickets sold were to Heritage.  Way to go, Heritage!!!

BAPTISM:  Lillian Faith Mott will be baptized today, Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.  Lillian is the daughter of Holly & William Mott, granddaughter of J.D. & Lena Matta and the great-granddaughter of Lucille Matta.

UMW PRAYER BREAKFAST will be held in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, March 6th at 9 a.m.  The speaker will be Michelle Bailey from Beauvoir UMC.  All women of the church are invited.

HATS! HATS! HATS!  Get them before they’re gone.  Blue denim Heritage ball caps are available for $10.  See Sheila & Vicki in the trailer or Linda in the church office to purchase one.

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS AND YOUTH:  The 8th Annual Poplar Head UMYF Spring Retreat is scheduled for March 19-21.  Cost is $50.  Youth can use stock funds if they have approved number of shares and 18 service projects completed.  Registration forms must be completed and turned in no later than Feb 28 (that’s TODAY).  If you have any questions, contact Ms. Nancy at 424.0043.

JUNIOR HIGH SUMMER MISSION TRIP:  The Junior High youth are attending Youth In Missions (YIM) at Lake Junaluska on July 4-8, 2010.  Registration must be done now so we can be assured a reservation.  Cost for the week is $350 and includes lodging, all meals at Lake J, transportation, & rafting.  Commitment forms have been distributed to all Junior High Youth including details for using stock funds and are due to Ms. Nancy on Feb 28th (that’s TODAY).    If you have any questions contact Ms. Nancy at 424-0043.

ATTENTION STOCKHOLDERS – SAVE THE DATE:  Annual Stockholder Appreciation Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 6 p.m.
